new work

I have finally finished my first project that I'm doing just for me. I think this would make more sense if you find the actual writing I used in this post (I think it's in the block of text of second photo). 

My overall goal is to make a sort of booklet or zine or something like that but I don't know what style I'm trying to go for or if the "Fuel Your Therapy" is the first page or w/e w/e w/e so the in between goal is to just pump out as much stuff as I can and then I'll trim the edges and compile it and try and make my very first design book!!

K so this is the beginning of my final project. I've only done the tweets bit but I want to get into the rants but I DON'T KNOW WHAT. I think the middle two are funnnnny. The last one is meant for you to open and look through.

STYLE (?)

I did these two while watching Factory Girl on my flight back from St. Barths. I've been thinking quite a bit lately about what my "motivation" is for all of these things I'm designing and the only thing that's remained constant is the idea of "memory". My problem is that I'm not sure if that translates to anyone but myself, and at the same time, I'm not sure if I care a whole lot about that right now. And basically the only thing that's linking these to memories are the fact that I remember exactly when I took these photos. I also have a love affair with film grain right now, as you can see.

The first photo is of my hair and a screenshot of Factory Girl, zoomed in. The second photo is me on a lazy Sunday and then two trees outside my window that I use over and over again.

I'm not stressing too much over my message or motivation, I think this blog is motivation enough - trying to figure it all out. So for now, I'm fine making things that I think just look good  and knowing exactly when and where and what mood I was in when I took the photos. It's all personal. Like this blog. An online journal.

REALIZATION

Whenever I need a break from studying I take selfies. I was in the library and I kind of liked what the background was. 

I am now glued to these pants. I'm using Mariel's Bianchi this semester and they're the best bottoms to wear while on a bike. I will be wearing these babies in real good, y'all better watch out.

My realization: every once in a while I focus too much on how many followers I get. I don't want to do that on this blog. The reason why I stopped posting for so long is because I was worried that people who see the posts would be like, "Oh ew what is happening". But then I realized that a) not many people read this blog and b) it's my blog and it's meant for me to post stuff that I do on a daily basis and I'm in college so it's pretty much not going to be super fancy because I have other shit to do. 

I couldn't figure out which photo was less pooch-y. I asked Mariel if Levi's 501s were only for men because there is a bunch of extra fabric up in the waist area that literally creates folds and pooches left and right. They aren't just for men. I just bought a pair from Goodwill that do not properly fit me.

WHY I ENJOY HOME

I've uploaded this on angelebaby and on purehoney...I learned how to do masks in Photoshop and that really wiped me out so I stopped after I finished erasing Kate's (we're on first name basis here) face. But these are 3 reasons why I don't mind being home:

1. The shower- I purposely made it look kinda creepy but that shower head is glorious. Raining hawt water everywhere

2. Choc Magazine on Mariel's wall is funny

3. Kate represents all my magazine subscriptions I send home and get to devour yum yum

Okay so this was my final project for my design class. We all had to do a cover for a magazine called "I am" so this is what I did. I also kind of exaggerated on how much of a "sensation" I am. But lulzzz I have a fake article about my blog on my blog now!!

lady steve jobs

If you've read the Steve Jobs biography, I hope you recognize this photo...It's my favorite one. For our first design project we basically just did a project about ourselves and I decided to liken myself to Steve (naturally and not at all narcissistically). Read the caption under my photo, it's worth it and funny.

typography

I took a typography class last spring (this was the very beginning of my Steve Jobs phase). One of the projects was to take lyrics from a song, pick out 1 word, 1 sentence and then about 75-100 words and arrange them cool on the page. I chose "Help Yourself" by Amy Winehouse.

It's fun looking back on them because they're really quite unimpressive (granted, we were only allowed to use 5 fonts and we couldn't use shapes or colors but still....) and I think I could do it a lot better. Which means I'm going to redo the project over break probably, and probably going to use an Eminem song because that's something I would do.

Here are my favorite (only the paragraphs, the word ones were lame) (also I'm going to go ahead and say that everyone else's were complete shit compared to mine. Okay, glad we got that straight):
