THE HOUSE

This house is on one of my running routes and there's something about the front lawn that makes me stop and look every single time. It might be those lion statues. And that tree. It's a pretty expansive front lawn and I really should go there once with the real camera and take some photos because by golly is it impressive. I should also take photos with the nice camera so my blog isn't full of grainy stretched iPod photos.

Speaking of running, Nike+ has informed me that my average run is 4.1 miles, a decent improvement from last year's 2 miles. Also, yoga has really done some good on my arms...now, if I could get my kindergarten like sweet tooth under control, mmmmm baby . . .

LOOK AT THESE ROOTS

Taken on my run yesterday (which was ~8 miles~ by the way!!) on the south side of Expo.

I have a midterm on Wednesday. I'll do a post tomorrow but it'll probably be simple and hopefully on Wednesday I can do a real good one. I'm in need of it.

HEALTH UPDATE/LIBRARY SELFIE

I'm in the library therefore I take photos of myself. I'm also not motivated at all. I took two v similar photos, layered them and edited them a little bit. I can't stop layering photos even if it doesn't make a lot of sense. Let's hope I learn to do something else in Photoshop soon.

I also thought I could do a health update again because I like to hold myself accountable. So this is what I've done this week:

Saturday 2/2: Ran w/Mariel. We went at a slow pace and I enjoyed it. Only 2 miles
Sunday 2/3: Decided to go at a slow pace again. Ran for 1 hour and did 6.6 miles
Monday 2/4: No cardio, went to yoga class and we focused on arms. My arms were sore.
Tuesday 2/5: Ran at a slow pace again. Did 1 hour and 7 miles
Wednesday 2/6: V leisure stationary bike (had reading to do) and then yoga. My arms!!!
Thursday 2/7: Ran 3 miles
Friday 2/8: Ran 3 miles
Today: I'm taking a rest day. I'm going to try a longer run tomorrow again

HEALTH UPDATE 1

I want this to be a true lifestyle blog and I've always been pretty active, so it seems natural that I'd include a "health" section to my blog, even though I may not be very healthy all the time (ahh as I'm writing this I'm thinking about how my siblings are about to pounce on this gem of a post and make fun of me for quite a while...). For example, winter break was quite awful - I didn't eat very well and didn't exercise enough so coming back to school is great because I can get back to my routine of eating well (ish) and exercising on a regular basis.

This was my first week back and the first week of school is always a little hectic so my first priority was making sure my schedule was perfect (finally scored no school on Fridays!!). But here's a little recap:

Monday: 40 minutes on the elliptical
Tuesday: nothing (oops haha)
Wednesday: 40 minutes of yoga (it was the first class, we had a bit more instruction in the beginning, which is why we didn't get in a full hour)
Thursday: nothing
Friday: 2.5 hour bike ride along the beach
Saturday: 2.5 hour hike
Sunday: my sister and I are going to the gym later this afternoon

I can't wait for my yoga classes though, I took some last semester but just through our gym. Now I'm actually taking the class for credit so I'm waiting for it to pick up!

ON BEAUTY

Wow the second photo is a little frightening...But I'm going to be healthier this semester. I already jumped on that last semester w/running and yoga and all that jazz but I'm going to bring it to the next level:

1. Stop wearing makeup:  I don't wear much in the first place--just eyeliner, eye shadow and mascara (no makeup in any of these photos). Now, there will be days where my puffiness will be ridiculously high, so I'll allow myself one makeup product. So only wear eye shadow, or only mascara. But whatever, I never wore foundation so, I can't be doing too much damage to my skin in the first place.
2. Treat myself: ...in the skin department. Buy eye cream and nice lotions and toners and moisturizers and cleansers. All from Kiehl's because I love their packaging and I already use most of their products.
3. Take care of my hair: I work out almost every day at school so I like to clean my hair every day. I'm going to try and reduce that to only 2-3 a week like you're supposed to and treat myself (yet again) to fun little hair lotions and whatnot from Bumble & Bumble.
4. Health post: I will be posting once a week about what I did that week for my health. I'm talking exercise and diet. I'll post what cardio I did and what I did in yoga and if I ate well or not or if I drank too much alcohol and blah blah blah. I think it will be fun to document all that jazz. So, visitors, tune in!
